New hybrids – limited batches

Sunflower hybrids Thanos and Carbon, which have proven themselves well in many soil and climatic conditions of different landfarms, are available this year in a version resistant to tribenuron-methyl. Many years of breeding work have led to the creation of hybrids that combine resistance to sulfonylurea herbicides, high productivity and oiliness. The results of testing the Thanos and Carbon hybrids indicate their ecological plasticity and good adaptability in difficult weather and climatic conditions, which was demonstrated in several locations in different regions.

Since the sowing was carried out within the spatial isolation of 1.5+ km, we now have seed material of high varietal purity. According to the results of the previous test for resistance to tribenuron-methyl 50 g/ha, we obtained a result of 99.5% of resistant plants.

There were also difficulties during harvesting this year – some batches of seeds had to be dried. But thanks to the economical drying regime at the Kyiv Seed Plant, seed germination remained normal, as evidenced by the appropriate certificates.
