Our three hybrids of sunflower accepted the National Registry: Comandor, Classic and Cross.

The register of plant varieties allowed for distribution in Ukraine has replenished our three sunflower hybrids. We have been expecting for this event for a long time, as well as many of our clients.

Hybrid Classic and Cross were registerded after a two-year test due to high levels of productivity and adaptability in different parts of Ukraine. We also noted this on commercial testing plots, where they got good results. Classic has a good evening on the field, which looks like a modern hybrid. Cross is an early-maturing hybrid with high drought tolerance and moisture output during maturing. So for such economic and valuable characteristics to register these hybrids in general was not difficult.

Another thing is one of our best hybrids – Comandor. Its registration was longer than expected due to inconsistency of procedures at the Institute of Plant Varieties Examination. As the hybrid itself is very good, it could be easy for two years to enter the Registry, as well as others. And the name to many of our customers to please. But not everything in our life is so simple. The fact that the hybrid shows good performance and a particular resistance to the latest sunflower broomrapes is not very quickly considered in the State Service. The registration procedures here always needed a lot of endurance and effort. Another surprise for us was when registering the name of the hybrid: by the end of the test in the Institute of Plant Varieties Examination we got refuse regarding the nomination “Comandor” because our northern neighbor is also has a hybrid of sunflower with such name. And this is after the third year of the test! But we were not upset and added three sevens to the name of the hybrid, for success. And now the official name is “Comandor 777”.

So, we wish good harvests for our hybrids on the Ukrainian fields and grateful customers!
